About Us

If Platres Village in the Troodos mountain range can be considered as Aphrodite’s crown, then without doubt, The Semiramis Hotel is the jewel in that crown. Certainly the European Union and the Cyprus Government think so as they have bestowed the honour of granting protected status on this beautiful building. It is the only listed hotel anywhere on this magical Island.

The original hotel was built in the early 1900’s and whilst it retains  all it’s classic 1920’s style, it now features – following its very recent refurbishment -  a refined interior design that blends with traditional hospitality to provide an ambience that is guaranteed to delight the senses.

The refurbishment has seen the entire interior redesigned. The bedrooms in particular reconfigured to allow en-suite facilities. Great care has been taken to create a fusion of cutting edge modernity with traditional Cypriot style.

The understated elegant simplicity of the Hotel décor can be considered the ultimate in style and comfort. The subtle alliance of light colours, natural woods and textiles, the flow and pleasing lines of the furniture, all combine and contribute to the contemporary yet soothing atmosphere. The first – and only – boutique hotel anywhere in the mountains. Truly the jewel in the crown!

At dusk, in the spring and early summer months, the attractive multileveled terraces echo to the melodious song of the Platres nightingales. As night falls and the soft, stylish terrace lighting comes alive, the sheer velvety peacefulness, enhanced by the surrounding tall pine trees, envelops you, magical moments in a magical place!

In the winter months, the crackling log fire in the tastefully furnished sitting room, positively invites you to sit around it, relaxing in the cozy ambience of the room. Then of course there is the bar. Cleverly positioned midway between the dining room and the sitting room, it’s convenient for all occasions and purposes and is in easy reach of the terraces.

Breakfast, winter or summer, is a real treat in the lovely dining room. With its views over the terraces and surrounding pine trees, it’s easy to linger there and enjoy yet another cup of that ‘oh so strong’ Greek coffee.

The people of Cyprus are renowned for their hospitality, more so in the mountains than anywhere else. The Semiramis Hotel has a heritage of hospitality that dates back to the 1920’s. This is continued by the current management of Michalis Michalides and his family. They will make you welcome and ensure your stay is something you will never forget.
